Internship in Education
In January 2017, I began the process of working toward a Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Science Education. Part of the Masters process was the Secondary Science Licensure Program. Upon successful completion of the program I received a license to teach Physics in the state of Virginia. One of the requirements of this program was to complete the Internship in Education course. During Semester 1 of this course (September - December 2017) I completed an Internship in an 8th grade Physical Science class. In Semester 2 of the course (January - April 2018) I completed the Internship in a high school Physics course.
INTASC Standards
One important aspect of the program was the set of set of standards defined by the Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC). This set of standards provides an outline for the knowledge teachers should have and behaviors or tasks they should be able to perform to provide a productive and inclusive classroom that prepares all learners to enter college or the workforce after k12 education. Follow the links below to learn more about the standards and how they influenced my internship experience.
